This is an exciting opportunity that has arisen within the Corporate Finance, Financial Shared Services (FSS) Area within the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams.

We are a professional, friendly and welcoming team which sits within HMRC’s Financial Shared Services which as a whole carries out a wide range of transactional services for HMRC and the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).

Our activities play a key role in ensuring the delivery of HMRC’s strategic objectives and keeps the frontline operations working effectively. Acknowledging the important role it plays, HMRC continues to invest with the latest technology to ensure it maintains its excellent performance.

 Specifically:

  • Accounts Payable is responsible for facilitating payment to all suppliers for goods and services purchased by HMRC, VOA & RCDTS. Our key deliverables to ensure that we meet 5 & 30 day Government prompt payment targets.
  • Accounts Receivable is responsible for collection of outstanding debt owed to HMRC and VOA for the provision of services.
Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

We are seeking an Administration Officer(s) to work as part of a large, professional, friendly Operational Team who contribute to the provision of a full range of financial transactional services.

The main duties of the roles include:

  • Working as part of a team to deal with post, emails or telephone enquiries received from internal and external customers and ensuring satisfactory resolution within agreed timescales, keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Processing financial documents and data within deadlines and in accordance with financial controls whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy.
  • Manually keying and uploading electronic invoices into the buying and invoicing system and other Business Applications such as SAP.
  • Reconciling documents such as invoices or bank statements, analysing reasons for discrepancies and finding solutions to complete processing to enable suppliers to be paid promptly.
  • Organising and prioritising workloads in order to effectively deal with daily volumes of work and to undertake other general clerical administration duties such as electronic filing.
  • Participation in activities and discussions to implement new processes or continually improve established procedures.
  • Use Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel to update, review and maintain performance data as well customer and supplier information.

Desirable criteria:

  • Previous experience of data entry work in Business Applications such as SAP
  • Previous experience of working in a busy operational environment.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
