As a Supplier Manager you will:

Have responsibility for Operationally Managing/Leading our Tier 1 and Tier 2 contracts. You will manage these contracts in line with the Supplier Management Practice principles, standards, and processes along with external regulations such as GDPR. In connection you will support both Supplier Management Leads as well as provide support to Supplier Management Associates in the management of Tier 3 and/or Tier 4 contracts as appropriate.

You will work closely with Commercial, strategic business partners, Finance, Security, Service Level Management, Delivery areas, Major Programmes, Service Owners, Senior Responsible Officers and various suppliers to provision timely and accurate reporting of supplier performance.

You will ensure business requirements are captured and reviewed, and where appropriate engage suppliers to impact these requirements in accordance with SLAs within the contract.

Supporting some of HMRCs national critical infrastructure our Tier 1 and Tier 2 contracts require construable oversight and management to ensure the seamless provision of quality products and services.

You will be responsible for ensuring performance obligations are met in the operations space. You will do this by having meetings with your suppliers and key individuals to understand supplier performance. Therefore, it is vital you are passionate about building positive relationships and overcoming hurdles to provide solutions.

  • Facilitate Operational Performance Boards.
  • Work with key collaborators to ensure operational obligations are met in line with the Supplier Management Practice standards.
  • Performance management of any Key Performance Indicators (KPI) or Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Drive continual improvements.
  • Support the business area and commercial with the renewal, extension, new procurements, mobilisation and contract exit.
  • Provide reasoned, timely and well researched advice to stakeholders.
  • Ensure the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) is aware of supplier performance, risks, issues, and decisions.
  • Business Continuity and transition planning.
  • Identify and manage operational risk.
  • Ensure plans to improve operational performance and reduce risk are in place and are regularly reviewed by both the organisation and the strategic supplier.
  • Fully understand the delivery groups ongoing and future supplier requirements and share with supplier.
  • Report to Cabinet Office on performance (where applicable).
  • Manage budgetary control, and invoice approval in conjunction with Finance processes.
  • Ensure payments to suppliers are made on time, reflect contract terms, and are subject to robust assurance controls and counter fraud policy.
  • Support the development of the Supplier Management Practice.
  • Embrace new technologies and digital tools to improve my own productivity and ensure best practice is shared across the team to support others do the same.
  • Line Management responsibilities as required.
  • Attend/participate in team meetings and face to face events, sometimes requiring travel and overnight stays were appropriate.

Strategic Supplier Relationship Management (SSRM)

  • Escalation of risks and issues.
  • Ensure the Accountable Responsible Officer (ARO) is aware of supplier performance, risks, issues, and decisions.
  • Support commercial SSRM activities for Strategic Suppliers.
  • Support or facilitate in the appropriate SSRM governance.
Person specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Recent and extensive experience of working in a Supplier/Contract Management function and/or Commercial encompassing a range of supplier contracts in a multi supplier environment.
  • You will have demonstrable experience of driving requirements from identification through to completion in a diverse technical supplier environment, understanding the principles of operational delivery.
  • Good interpersonal skills with strong and demonstrable experience of managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including engaging at a senior level.
  • The ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities and delivering to timely deadlines.
  • A willingness to complete relevant training for new role within a reasonable agreed period of time.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Evidence of continuous improvement through innovation and creativity.
  • Government procurement, incl. Government Sourcing Frameworks, and operational contract/supplier management experience.
  • Line Management experience would be an advantage.
  • Evidence of embracing new technologies and digital tools to improve own and others productivity
  • Commercial Contract/Supplier Management training at Practitioner/ Expert level
  • ITIL4 Foundation Certification.
