Do you have the passion to work in public service and a real talent for working with people from all walks of life?  Looking for a role that’s challenging and not just sitting behind a desk?  Then performing the role of Detention Officer could very well be your next career move.

If you have an interest in policing and perhaps a long-term plan to become a police officer this role is an excellent way into a career in policing.

In this role you will be maintaining a safe and professional environment for people that have been arrested, visitors and contractors to our custody centres.  Lots of variety comes with your duties including; supporting the Custody Sergeant in dealing with detainees, using designated powers such as searching or taking fingerprints, and providing support to those who are at a crisis point  You will be working with custody medical teams for physical and mental health and oversee entitlements as required under legislation.

Policing is a 24/7 operation – so, this role operates a shift pattern that is 24/7.  Whilst you will be based at one of the Custody Centres (Guildford, Staines or Salfords) you may also be required to work at any one of the Centres.

Full time hours on a temporary basis.
