Job Description:

Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Controls Engineer / Instrumentation Technician
Wakefield
Days Monday – Friday – 7:30 am to 4 pm (3 pm Fridays)
£42,000 basic – OTE £47K+
5% annual bonus
On-call 1 in 4 weeks (Monday to Sunday)
If called out automatically get 4 hours paid at double time (8 hours pay)

Duties/Overview:
  • Working on: various instrumentations, vales, probes, vessels, pipework, variable speed drives, pumps, reactors etc.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance and breakdowns.
  • Fault finding, diagnosing and repairing of equipment.
  • Calibrations of instrumentation.
  • Testing of control systems and instrument systems.
  • Utilise company CMMS system.
  • Risk assessments.
  • Involvement with continuous improvement and projects.
  • Heavy industry background – Chemicals.
  • Joining a team of 10 engineers, being 1 of 5 electrical maintenance engineers onsite/multi-skilled maintenance engineer.
  • Looking after all electrical, controls and instrumentation onsite.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Level 3 minimum in an electrical qualification or have completed a full electrical apprenticeship.
  • Worked on 415v 3-phase, 110v & 240v electrical equipment, SCADA/DCS/PLC, hard-wired control systems, and PLC-based control loops.
  • Able to read and work from drawings and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong H&S knowledge desirable – this is working in the chemical industry.
  • Advantage if you have knowledge of BS EN 61508 and BS EN 61511

Call out details:
  • If called out automatically get 4 hours paid at double time (8 hours pay)
  • 9 times out of 10, issues can be resolved over the phone.
  • You are not expected to be glued to the phone. If you are required onsite, get there within a few hours.
  • Callouts are restricted to what is allowed to be called out for.
