Orion Rail has a fantastic opportunity on behalf of our leading UK Rail client, to provide the required support and maintenance for their customers and products at both UK sites & customer locations.

As the Diesel Engine Technician, you will be required to run maintenance procedures, diagnostic testing, and mechanical duties on Diesel Engines.

Diesel Engine Technician Duties:

• Update and maintain Diesel Engines per manufacturer specifications and requirements
• The scope of this activity includes the initial preparation of work and organisation of workflow
• Day-to-day liaising with customers and keeping accurate, concise records of work completed.
• Provide excellent customer service
• Prioritise safety, innovation for customers, operational excellence, and teamwork.

Qualifications /Education for the Diesel Engine Technician position:

• At least 2 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics.
• Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering ONC, or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• HNC/HND level / NVQ Level 4 / Foundation degree.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience of the Diesel Engine Technician:

• Outstanding technical attributes & an aptitude for fault finding on Diesel Engines.
• Significant technical ability in Diesel Engines
• Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
• Ability to train others.
• IT skills (particularly MS Excel and Laptop/Tablet computers)
• Ability to compile technical reports.
• Ability to efficiently organise own workload.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Essential Requirements for the Diesel Engine Technician:

• Drivers License
• NVQ 3 in Engineering or Equivalent
• Good Customer Service Skill
