Job description

What will the successful candidate be doing? 

The vacancy lies in the Internal Services Accessibility Review Project (ISAR) which is part of Chief Digital and Information Officer Group (CDIO) and sits in Mobility and Workplace Services (MWPS).

HMRC are committed to ensuring our Internal IT Services are accessible to all. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play your part in driving forward our ambition for HMRC to be the exemplar for accessibility and assistive technology across all Government Departments.

Over the length of the project, we will focus on the analysis of HMRC’s internal services against accessibility standards, providing robust data/information and strong justification for remediation of HMRC Internal Services to improve accessibility where appropriate.

Senior Business Analysts understand and analyse user and business needs. They work with project /delivery professionals and scrum teams to identify, understand, analyse, and capture these needs. 

You will be a leading member of a project team collaborating with all partners throughout the full delivery lifecycle.

You will lead on the development of Business objectives and play a principal role in key projects.

At the same time, you will help develop best practice, own stakeholder relationships, manage communities of practice activities and mentor others. 

We are interested in people who are natural leaders who are experienced in business analysis and can demonstrate working in different projects, using many methodologies. 

Naturally collaborative team players who can use your skills to understand the business and user needs, through analysing insights, and knowledge. 

We need good communicators who can present and facilitate outcomes visually, using modelling tools and techniques and can share best practice to others in the profession. 

Leaders who are willing to be a confident and important member of the profession community. 

Person specification

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will: 

  • Support the HMRC objective of making HMRC a great place to work by being a true advocate of inclusion and accessibility in the workplace.

  • Have functional and / or people management responsibilities

  • Help develop and communicate best practice

  • Build and own customer relationships

  • Work closely with Internal IT Service Owners to maintain the IT Services Inventory

  • Follow the IT project delivery lifecycle to gain access to service test environments

  • Prioritise, plan and allocate work to Business and Test Analysts

  • Lead communities-of-practice activities 

  • Use analysis tools and techniques to support project and service delivery 

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of Business Analysis
  • Proven knowledge and experience of Analysis tools and techniques to support large scale project and service delivery

Desirable Criteria: 

  • An understanding of accessibility, assistive technologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards
