As a result of continued new projects, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bid Manager with a background in the manufacturing/engineering sector to undertake a key, highly autonomous role in support of new bids and project support.
Working across cutting-edge new projects at the forefront of technology you will utilise your bid and proposal expertise to lead, develop and then manage and evaluate the creation of bespoke bids within the aviation and defence side of the business.
You will be handling multiple bids at different stages of maturity and value, but typically these will be highly complex ranging from small through to large-scale bids up to several million in value.
Your role as Bid \Manager will be:
- To define and manage the whole bid process to ensure customers are given accurate and quick responses which enable the business to leverage the best return.
- To help define the future technical needs of the divisional technology Roadmap and deliver a clear strategy.
Key accountabilities as Bid/Proposal Manager will include:
- Working externally and internally with key stakeholders and utilising your commercial acumen to identify new frameworks and tender opportunities.
- Mould and create a centralised tender response process/framework.
- Plan and monitor bid progress against the scheduled plan.
- Understand and generate proposals in response to customer requests to meet technical, schedule and pricing constraints.
- Ensure that bids follow governance gates / are signed off at the appropriate levels
- Managing bid and proposal risks.
To succeed in this highly autonomous role supporting key projects you will have a natural flair for building strong relationships and engaging with technical functions both externally and internally. You will ideally have:
- Prior experience in managing the bid and tender process within an aerospace, defence or related hi-tech manufacturing environment preferred.
- First-class commercial and contractual acumen.
- Excellent analytical skills coupled with commercial awareness.
- Any previous experience in a leadership capacity ideal (although not essential)
