Job description

CDIO customer engagement & IT business services purpose is to drive a customer centric approach to transforming services for HMRC Customers.  Working closely with business stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers - our aim is to drive digital innovation and to re-engineer services aligned to our IT, contractual and sourcing strategies and to deliver significantly improved services.

The role is within the CDIO Customer engagement & IT business services Pega Delivery Team, which is focused on developing, running & optimising applications on PegaCloud configured through low code technology to deliver better customer service and adviser experience.   

We have several roles building and improving service frontends in Pega. If you’re a Senior Frontend Developer with experience of this, who’s passionate about improving public services and driving best practice, we want to hear from you. You will be a key member working across agile delivery teams to build and continuously improve our services. You will focus on the UI and UX of new and existing services, supporting teams in delivering services built with Pega and mentoring others in best practice. You will help set direction and embed good practice within teams and make decisions based on research and best practice. You will understand multiple services on the platform and be responsible for teaching and mentoring others about user interface development, accessibility and/or user experience.

Person specification

A senior frontend developer (Pega) is an experienced developer who works with minimal support and can influence and mentor others. This role primarily involves:

•    having a proven understanding of technical accessibility, including how to design and build accessible technical patterns in Pega
•    experience using Pega UI components, skins and design templates
•    providing consultation of design of frontend patterns across the platform
•    helping set direction and embedding good practice within teams
make decisions based on research
•    planning and leading development on sets of related stories, working with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built
•    having an understanding of whole services
•    being responsible for teaching and mentoring others

Essential Criteria:

You will need to demonstrate within your application the following essential experience in: 

•    Experience with Pega to Senior System Architect level
•    Designing and building accessible patterns using the above
•    Setting direction and UI best practice
•    Experience and understanding of Agile approaches to digital delivery, such as scrum  
•    Resilient and able to work in a challenging, changing, and fast paced environment with multiple shifting priorities.
•    Excellent communication skills, communicating technical and business matters clearly
•    Comfortable under constructive challenge, acting as a critical advisor to achieve solutions which are fit for purpose.
•    A self-starting approach, professional with a strong team and work ethic

Desirable Criteria:
 
•    Pega Certified Senior System Architect – we are happy to support you in attaining this if you do not have the certification.
•    Experience in designing in the Pega Customer Service product.
•    Experience with other frontend technologies such as React
