Job Description:

Step Teachers are currently looking for an experienced Drama Teacher for a Head of Department role in a Secondary School in Lewisham starting in September 2023. While this role is intially on a long term basis, the school are looking to make the role permanent for someone who fits well into the school's ethos. The school provides education from Key Stage 3 - Key Stage 5 and the role is a Head of Drama across all year groups. 

The role is at a Secondary School where responsibility and mutual respect are at the centre of the vision. They are rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and have a curriculum that supports students to achieve and reach their potential. 

Role:

  • Good knowledge of the KS3 - KS5 Drama curriculum
  • Able to plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons
  • Maintain a well organised classroom and ensure the safe use and storage of all equipment
  • Work effectively with other members of staff, both within the department and throughout the school
  • Ability to assess students, monitor their progress, and provide constructive feedback
  • Compliance with the schools’ policies and the reliable implementation of these
  • Oversee the running of the department and support the staff within it

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent qualification
  • Have recent mainstream school-based experience teaching Drama at secondary school level.
  • Have a good level of classroom and behaviour management
  • A relevant Drama/Performing Arts related degree is desirable
  • SEND experience is desirable
