Skilled Industries Supervisor - Engineering Workshop

HMP Five Wells, Wellingborough, NN8 2NG

£38,720.00 per annum

Full Time, permanent, 40 hours per week

 HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough is setting a gold standard for new build prisons of the future, using forward-thinking design and technology.  The Prison is the UK’s first purpose-built, peer-led resettlement Prison. A one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future; HMP Five Wells is fast becoming an integral part of the local community.

 

We are now looking for a Skilled Industries Supervisor to join our team in the Engineering Workshop at HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough. You will be working closely with Prisoners on a daily basis and will coordinate workshop activities in line with Prison regime requirements, developing the prisoner’s skills and supporting them through qualifications. The people in your care will have a variety of different needs and it will be your role to ensure those individuals are treated with dignity and respect and helped to find a new way of life whilst maintaining a safe, secure and structured environment.

 

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and able to motivate a wide range of learners towards successful careers in the Engineering industry. Ideally the candidate will be Level 2 & 3 Qualified in Engineering. You will be involved in the production and manufacturing of items for clients related to the workshop itself. Previous professional experience within this field is essential with an Engineering qualification too. Ideally, you will have a working knowledge of one of the following areas at least;

1. Sheet metal fabrication

2. Machine shop manufacturing

3. Composites manufacturing
