Job Title:             Mechanical Design Engineer

Location:             Tamworth

Salary:                 £40,000 - £45,000

We specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke machinery, jigs & fixtures, robotic welding cells and laser marking systems, for a variety of market sectors. We utilise in-house facilities for mechanical design, electrical design, software development, fabrication, CNC machining, build and installation.

About The Mechanical Design Engineer Role

You will be responsible for providing design expertise to the Mechanical Engineering team, while ensuring optimum levels of detail and documentation necessary to developing bespoke machinery systems.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for:

• Design and develop mechanical systems
• Collaborate with Design Manager & Project Manager to determine project requirements
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings and specifications
• Perform design and production trials
• Participate in design reviews of mechanical systems and prototypes
• Coordinate and review engineering schedules with project team members
• Review and approve documentation for quality and safety
• Perform project analysis
• Hydraulics, Pneumatics and any Electrical knowledge would be advantageous

A successful Mechanical Design Engineer will need:

• 3 Years previous experience in a design office.
• Prior equipment or machinery design experience.
• Ability to think in a methodical, organised way.
• Can demonstrate an aptitude towards software-based engineering and drawing.
• Interested in continued training and improvement.
• Excellent English with proficient communication skills, in order to present information in drawings as well as liaising with suppliers and business colleagues.
