Are you looking for an opportunity to support young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs?

We are currently looking to recruit a Primary Teaching Assistant to work in a highly regarded Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Fulham. The Pupil Referral Unit supports pupils with various behavioural and emotional needs.

The Role

This Alternative Provision are looking to recruit a Primary Teaching Assistant to work with pupils on a 1 to 1 and small group basis within one of the primary classes. You will be working directly with 6 – 8 students in the class all of whom have Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will be supporting the class teacher in delivering national curriculum lessons, therapists and the outreach team throughout a range of lessons and activities.

You will need to be approachable and patient and be able to build a strong rapport with children with SEMH. You will receive support from the senior leadership team and therapist’s.  Experience in similar settings is desirable, along with a calm and resilient approach. Team Teach desirable but not essential. Team Teaching training also offered.

 

Strong experience working with EYFS and key stage 1 students is essential.

This is a full-time contract role until the end of the academic year.

The PRU

This Alternative provision is part of a specialist academy trust which provides specialist support for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education. They have a culture of resilience, compassion and innovation with a true drive to ensure every learner reaches their full potential. This setting in Fulham has a total of 16 places for primary and secondary age children who experience difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school. Some pupils have an EHCP in place whilst others are at risk of being (or have been) permanently excluded. The school follows the national curriculum alongside a range of extracurricular activities to enhance their learning. The school uses their own Behaviour for Learning framework which is based on the relationship with self, others and curriculum, and promotes positive learning behaviours inside and outside the classroom. The school is easily accessible by bus and tube.
