We are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in supporting children with Autism to join a welcoming primary school in Muswell hill from September.

The Role

In this role your day will be split in to two parts. In the morning you will provide and deliver bespoke curriculum and supporting strategies for a child with autism (non-verbal) and moderate learning difficulties mostly outside the classroom setting and on a 1:1 basis. The child requires an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to contribute to planning offering specialist knowledge and skills. You will assist in the setting and assessing of appropriate work with the support of the teacher and SENCO. In the afternoons you will be delivering interventions for pupils with SEN across the school. You will work closely with the SENCO to plan and prepare interventions and will be involved in assessments as required.

The school are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant with at least two years’ experience of working with children with significant or general learning difficulties.  The level of experience relates specifically to either:

  • working with children on the autistic spectrum (non-verbal) or significant knowledge of children on the autistic spectrum
  • a qualification relevant to ASC comparable to NVQ Level 3 (or above), or a higher-level qualification in ASC; MAKATON – level 2 (minimum); PECs and Core Boards

This role is offered on a full-time contract basis from ASAP till  July 2024 (term-time only)
