Are you a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity? We are recruiting on behalf of a fantastic primary school for a Year 1 SEN Teacher with a passion for supporting children with additional needs. This is a long-term supply role, starting in October.
The Role:
You will be working with a Year 1 class where a high percentage of students have Special Educational Needs (SEN). The class includes two children with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans), each supported by a 1:1 Teaching Assistant. Additionally, there is a strong focus on supporting children with English as an Additional Language (EAL), ensuring all learners can thrive.
Key Responsibilities of an SEN Teacher:
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of SEN students.
- Collaborate with 1:1 Teaching Assistants and the SENCO to support children with EHCPs.
- Create a nurturing, inclusive environment that encourages learning and development.
- Foster strong relationships with pupils, parents, and other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s education.
- Adapt teaching methods to support EAL learners and children with complex learning needs.
The Ideal SEN Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children with high SEN needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
- Familiarity with supporting students with EHCPs and managing the needs of children with 1:1 support.
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to adapt to a diverse range of needs.
- A patient, empathetic approach to teaching, with a passion for inclusion and differentiation.
