Step Teachers are seeking an experienced Modern Foreign Languages Teacher located in Plymouth commencing in September 2025. This full-time position is for 2 months initially, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion.

Your duties as a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated language lessons that cater to students of all abilities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and language development.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural exploration.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide feedback, and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the MFL department to enhance and develop the curriculum.
  • Encourage students to appreciate the global significance of learning a foreign language and its cultural context.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers regarding student progress and wellbeing.
  • Support extracurricular activities, such as language clubs, trips, or events, to deepen students’ engagement with the language.

To be considered for this Modern Foreign Languages Teacher position, you will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Modern Foreign Languages (French, Spanish, German, etc.) or a related field.
  • Experience teaching MFL at the secondary school level (preferred, but not essential).
  • Strong knowledge of the MFL curriculum and exam specifications as a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher.
  • A passion for languages and culture, and the ability to inspire students to engage with them.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate students and adapt lessons to suit different learning styles.
