A well-respected and inclusive primary school in Greenwich is currently seeking a qualified SEND Teacher to join their dedicated team in September. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to teach a small class of primary-aged pupils with complex Autism, based within a specialist Learning Hub on the school site.

The Role:
The successful SEND Teacher will be responsible for leading a class of pupils who follow a sensory-based curriculum tailored to their individual needs. All students within the Hub have a diagnosis of Autism and present with a wide range of communication and learning profiles. The teacher will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that support both academic and personal development.

While pupils are primarily based within the Hub, some will access lessons and participate in activities within the mainstream school, including assemblies and whole-school events, when appropriate. The role requires a creative, nurturing, and flexible approach to teaching, with an emphasis on inclusion and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, sensory-focused lessons to a small group of pupils with complex Autism.
  • Create a supportive, structured learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Work closely with an experienced team of teaching assistants and support staff within the Hub.
  • Liaise with mainstream staff to support pupil integration where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and benefit from the wider support of the local trust.

It is also located close mainland rail stations with local bus links. The school and wider trust is popular within the local community and there is a culture of working closely with parents and they have a focus on closing the gap for disadvantaged pupils and provide a broad range of extra-curriculum opportunities.

To apply for this role, you must have

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience teaching young people with SEND
  • A comprehensive knowledge, understanding and experience of working with children with Autism
  • Experience in all or some of the following: Attention Autism, TEACCH, Makaton, Pecs

 

This role is offered on a permanent or long-term contract basis and paid according to experience.
