Job Purpose:

To support the smooth running of the solicitor’s office by providing professional front-of-house reception services and high-quality administrative support. This role offers a legal graduate the opportunity to gain experience in a professional legal environment, build essential skills, and observe legal practice in action.


Key Responsibilities:Reception Duties:
  • Act as the first point of contact for all visitors and clients

  • Manage incoming calls, take accurate messages, and direct queries appropriately

  • Greet clients in a professional and friendly manner

  • Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area

Administrative Support:
  • Handle incoming and outgoing post and email correspondence

  • Schedule appointments and manage meeting room bookings

  • Prepare, print, and format letters, legal forms, and other documents

  • Photocopy, scan, file, and maintain both physical and digital case files

Client File Management:
  • Assist with opening, closing, and archiving client files

  • Input data into the case management system accurately

  • Ensure all documentation is compliant with firm policies and regulatory requirements

General Office Duties:
  • Order and manage office supplies

  • Support solicitors and legal assistants with ad hoc tasks

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times


Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Recent law graduate (LLB or equivalent)

  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills

  • Strong written communication and administrative ability

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

  • Professional appearance and attitude

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a receptionist or admin role

  • Familiarity with legal documentation or case management systems

  • Aspiration to pursue a career in law


Working Conditions:
  • Office-based role  9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday

  • May involve periods of working under pressure and managing multiple tasks
