Full time hours on a temporary basis

• We are seeking a proactive and experienced Trading Standards Officer to lead investigations into illicit tobacco and enforce emerging vape legislation. This role is vital in protecting public health and ensuring compliance with consumer protection laws.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and take enforcement action against the sale and distribution of illicit tobacco and non-compliant vape products.
  • Conduct inspections of retail premises and gather evidence in line with PACE procedures.
  • Prepare legal case files and provide evidence in court when required.
  • Monitor and respond to changes in tobacco and vape legislation.
  • Provide advice and education to businesses and the public on compliance.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies including police, HMRC, and public health teams.
