SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term role starting November 2025This full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant role is based in a secondary school setting and begins in November 2025. The school offers a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are supported to develop both academically and personally. Leaders have created a culture of high expectations and strong pastoral care, with staff working together to ensure pupils feel safe and valued. Teaching is tailored to meet individual needs, and pupils benefit from a curriculum that promotes engagement and progress. The school places a strong emphasis on emotional well-being and positive relationships, helping students to thrive.Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a secondary school environment
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to support pupil progress
  • Monitor and record pupil development and behaviour
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Has experience working with SEMH pupils in a secondary school setting
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Understands behaviour management strategies and emotional support techniques
  • Works effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills as an SEMH Teaching Assistant.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
