Senior Development Manager (Delivery), Residential Development

Permanent position – £55,000 - £70,000 plus bonus and benefits

Headquartered in Manchester, House is set to expand at an exponential rate over the next 5 years. This spacious, customisable range of House products are built using MMC off-site to fit the customers’ needs, improving cost efficiency, cuts down construction time and is more environmentally friendly than traditional housebuilding methods.
The business is very well-backed by Japan’s largest housebuilder and Homes England and has a very ambitious growth plan and pipeline on a national basis.
Birmingham is not only one of the largest cities in the UK, it is also a high-density urban area continuing to experience massive growth. Port Loop is a 43-acre canal-side brownfield site just 15 minutes from the city centre and will comprise of over 1,100 homes, and a significant portion of retail and leisure space.
You will monitor and work closely with the external PM’s on this project, acting as the client and ensuring each phase is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest of quality standards. This position dovetails with a front-end DM and is heavily involved in the design and planning phases.
Due to hands-on nature of the position, you will be required to be on site 3 or 4 days a week, with the remaining days to be spent in Urban Splash’s North West headquarters – travel is an essential part of this role.

You will however need to be a seasoned project manager and understand the key principles of project management in a construction/development setting – some of these core skills include:
Experience of managing large-scale residential projects through the full development lifecycle would be ideal. Knowing how client-side PM’s work is essential as you will be given ownership of the external PM’s and be expected to challenge and support where necessary.
This position has ownership of project budget, so understanding the commercial elements (cost models, cashflows, drawdowns) is particularly desirable, as well as knowledge of appraisals and the design and planning phases.
The successful person will be able to communicate effectively, display exemplary organisational skills, have the ability to influence, and be driven by hitting key targets/milestones. They will need to be open-minded, proactive, creative, and collaborative to ensure a good fit with the business.
One of the key challenges in this role is balancing the value-engineering elements with the needs of the end-user whilst adhering to the high standards of design and sustainability that Urban Splash are known for. Having a passion for architecture and design is very important to the business and applying this to housebuilding principles will be key to the project’s success.
