Job Description:

Our client originates, develops, builds, owns and operates renewable energy generation projects across the UK. Due to the growth of their development team, an opportunity has arisen for a capable, experienced, ambitious and motivated individual to join them as a Development Manager, looking after their growing portfolio of wind farm sites.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Growth of the internal wind development pipeline through site origination and the identification of commercial opportunities, including the procurement and construction phases of developments to deliver operational assets.
  • Preparation and presentation of detailed feasibility assessments throughout the process to gain approvals to proceed.
  • Promotion of wind projects through scoping, EIA, planning application and, where necessary, planning appeal.
  • Management and maintenance of a diverse range of external and internal stakeholder relationships, including public consultation as required, negotiation and finalisation of property agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, off-taker agreements, etc.
  • Technical and environmental evaluation of new development opportunities, including the commercial viability and financial modelling of projects.
  • Management of internal and external resources to meet milestones and delivery of projects.
  • Input into, and involvement with, the development of other low carbon, flexible generation technology projects, including battery and solar.

 

Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified as a minimum in an appropriate technical field/discipline.
  • Accreditation with a relevant professional institute.

 

Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience in assessing the feasibility of projects and executing the development process of commercial scale wind energy projects.
  • Project Management of complex projects in the energy field to cost and programme.
  • Experience of consultation with both internal and external stakeholders and in developing strong working relationships with key actors.
  • Well-rounded demonstrable commercial management skills – including development and control of budgets, financial appraisals, project evaluation, contract negotiation and management.
  • Ability to create and maintain financial models for a range of energy projects.
  • Experience of managing projects beyond the consenting phase through the procurement and construction phases of development.
