Job Description:

Profectus have a brand new position for a Deskstop Support / 2nd Line Support Technician for it’s client in Reading.

Working as part of the Infrastructure support team you will have the following responsibilities: 

  • Providing support to the business by ensuring that all desktop devices are working correctly.
  • Support of Desktop Windows 7 & 10
  • Providing desktop hardware fault resolution where possible.
  • Creating, altering and removing users from Active Directory (Windows 2012 R2)
  • Escalating problems where necessary to management or third party suppliers.
  • Retaining ownership of incidents and monitor until satisfactory resolution is achieved.
  • Following established procedures for each service request.
  • Utilizing a ticketing system to handle and manage issues and queries.
  • Providing desktop assistance to the testing and development teams.
  • Support of Dell laptops and Zoostorm desktops, also some Armari high end desktops used for art work.
  • Building new desktop devices as required. (Dell laptops, Zoostorm desktops.)

The potential candidate must have at least two years’ experience within a Desktop Support role for a software development team/company.  The following skills and experience are required: 

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience of working in desktop support
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt to any new change or situation
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostic skills
  • Experience with Microsoft tools such as Office
  • Experience of Microsoft server 2012 R2 including Active Directory
  • Building new Dell laptop’s and Zoostorm desktops as required.

Basic networking skills and some knowledge of Vlan’s and subneting would

  • be helpful.
  • Monitoring and running backups and restores using various technologies.
  • To a lesser extent knowledge of Linux and Mac OSX.
  • Excellent time management
  • Has a flexible and collaborative approach
  • Works effectively under pressure and maintains a positive attitude
