Job Description:

Our client is a low-carbon energy project developer with over 15 years’ experience working with landowners on the development of multi-megawatt energy projects across the UK. As a result of continued growth, they are currently looking to recruit a Solar Developer to support their solar project pipeline delivery.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership and manage the entire development cycle from opportunity identification to shovel ready status.

The individual must be a creative problem-solver with an ability to combine both technical and commercial knowledge.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop solar projects from greenfield to financial close
  • Communicate and engage with landowners to agree land (heads/option/lease agreements)
  • Manage planning process and submission of planning applications (screening, planning application, environmental statement)
  • Appoint and manage external technical advisors (including planning/environmental/grid)
  • Management of key stakeholders (e.g. DNO’s, suppliers, consultants and legal advisors) to ensure programmes stay on plan, budget and meet target delivery dates
  • Communication to project stakeholders ensuring expectations are managed
  • Liaise with development partners, review projects and provide technical input to developments
  • Responsible for commercial aspects of the project including:
    • Risk identification and mitigation, anticipating development challenges
    • Take ownership of development problems, seeing them through to resolution
    • Managing grid connections to ensure viable connection contracts

 

Requirements

  • 2 – 5 years’ experience of solar project development
  • Preferably hold an engineering qualification/background, although other relevant backgrounds will be considered
  • Naturally curious, self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to build strong, cooperative and productive relationships with key stakeholders involved in realising projects
  • Organised and able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Creative and pragmatic with an ability to find solutions to challenging problems
  • Excellent commercial insight for assessing key value drivers of projects
  • Driving licence and desire to travel
