The successful candidate could have an Audit background or be an individual with strong Credit analytical skills who is looking for a change of perspective in their role.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for individuals with a strong background in Credit Risk who can transfer those skills into an audit role where they will assess and influence the control environment primarily for the Society’s secured and unsecured lending portfolios.

As a minimum requirement you’ll have:

  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant risks and control environments
  • Experience working in a relevant business environment with strong reporting and analytical skills using analytics packages such as SAS or SQL
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to build professional business relationships at various levels showing your proven negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and
  • A proven record in delivery considering quality, time and cost.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience of planning, leading and delivering Credit reviews of varying complexities and types (e.g. secured, unsecured, acquisition, portfolio management) to a high quality.
  • A relevant Audit or Risk Management qualification. (CIIA/IRM)
What you'll be doing

You will apply your technical knowledge to work effectively with colleagues to deliver high quality, impactful audit reports. You will be responsible for the delivery of audits using our agile based approach and to agreed timescales, quality standards and budgets. You will also support audit planning and issue validation activities. This requires regular engagement with business colleagues and the maintenance and development of your subject matter knowledge.

You will use your ability to build trust and credibility with your stakeholders as well as asking the right questions to pinpoint the key issues. Your analytical skills will also be used in spotting areas for improvement in the focus and/or efficiency of the team’s work, whilst your influencing skills will then be called into action in presenting these potential improvements to senior management. As part of this, you may also be directly involved in initiatives to drive improvement of IA’s practices.
