We are looking for an experienced Windows Server Infrastructure Support Specialist in our head offices in Swindon. You will own a deep technical knowledge on Windows Server based architectures with experience in 2nd/3rd line support at an exciting time when we are starting to roll-out MS latest system (2019). As part of this team you will working closely with all the technical teams looking at Root Cause analysis, Fault trends and Incident Diagnostics. This role requires the applicant to gain a broad knowledge of very differing architecture. Working closely with all aspects of the support functions throughout Nationwide, ensuring service is of absolute priority.

What you’ll be doing

You will understand how to work within a large support environment and will have a working knowledge of ITIL. Additionally, you should be capable of recommending process improvements based on identified risks and recurrent issues. You will be self-motivated, flexible, with an enthusiasm for driving change.

A demonstrated ability to manage multiple high priorities is critical. Excellent communication skills are essential in order to manage stakeholder and team expectations. Experience working within a Financial Services background would be desirable along with Experience in Splunk.

It will be your job to support Windows based infrastructure components across the whole production Environment. You’ll do this by planning and implementing upgrades, by monitoring system performance and tuning, and by carrying out a wide range of essential maintenance tasks Including faults rotas. There will be a requirement to join an on-call rota once you have gained the required level of experience.

As a team, we collaborate and work closely with other areas of IT, our partners and the business to ensure releases, maintenance and upgrades are delivered on time, whilst protecting service and the customer experience.

About you

As a minimum requirement, you’ll have technical experience working on:

Windows Server all OS’s

TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP

Active Directory/Group Policy

Windows Security

IIS and Web services

PowerShell

Network Tracing

Owning Azure experience will be advantageous
