Are you a Group Quality Manager or Plant Quality Manager looking to work for a forward-thinking, growing and finically secure business within the automotive market sector? If so, I have a fantastic opportunity for a Group Quality Manager to join a privately owned automotive manufacturing business supplying high-end products to their customers around the UK and overseas.

Having successfully recruited for this business for several years, I can honestly say they have a low staff turnover and provide a fun and challenging working environment with a key emphasis to promote internally. Like most businesses, this company is experiencing some changes, however, the key plan is to future proof the business and to ensure they are in good shape to capitalise on predicted growth for the early part of 2021.

Over the past 5 years, this company has invested in new plants, equipment, software and in their staff to ensure they work towards achieving world-class manufacturing standards and the quality department has and will play an integral part in this.

The role of the Group Quality Manager will be as follows:

• Provide clear leadership for the development of an environment focused on quality (team of up to 10 Quality Engineers)
• Lead weekly and daily meetings with your team and to provide support, training and guidance to the team
• Identify skill gaps, performance reviews, lead weekly 1-2-1’s, appraisals and recruitment of new staff
• Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance
• Update and control the QMS and to ensure this is reviewed and regularly updated
• Ensure stability with customers and to ensure all effective quality tools are utilized to minimize quality issues
• Hands-on working with Senior and Plant Quality Engineers to ensure quality assurance across the manufacturing plants
• To ensure quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why’s, Ishikawa, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Charts and PPS (practical problem solving) are used to ensure the Quality Department support manufacturing KPI’s
• Develop quality-process links with customers in line with the QMS (Quality Management System) including TS16949, IATF, ISO14001 / ISO 9001 / OHAS 18001) Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality, Planning (APQP), Controls Plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes and oversee continued compliance
• Undertake internal, customer, external and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Responsible for maintaining relationships with customers and suppliers to maximize profit potential and ensure efficiency – implementing short and long-term countermeasures for any quality issues
• Work proactively with all Directors, Managers, Supervisors and employees, to maintain a programme of continual improvement within their areas of responsibility

The ideal Group Quality Manager will have the following background and experience:

• Experienced Quality Manager, Group Quality Manager or Plant Quality Manager type background
• Strong working experience of automotive manufacturing and production - IATF/TS16949 is essential
• Experience in managing and leading quality teams with a strong systems background
• Ideally, a suitable engineering qualification albeit, the experience is preferred
• Exposure to lean and continuous improvement projects would be highly desirable
• Strong IT skills
