Role Description

Overall responsibility to deliver internal and external business and enterprise projects to

cost timescales, quality and customer satisfaction.

The projects range from technology and applications to business change focused on

transition and transformation aligned to AI EITS and customer tactical and strategic road

maps.

The incumbent will be expected to shape, mobiles, plan and lead internal and external

projects whilst adhering to internal BAE Systems delivery assurance processes and will be

required to collaborate across EITS and within the Portfolio and Project Management Team

(PPM) to address lessons learned, share good practice and continuously improve delivery

management.

  1. Role Responsibilities

Common Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to regulatory processes and procedures relevant to the project. May

include BAE Systems Project Management methodology, life cycle management and

external customer requirements.

  • Collaborates with PMO on knowledge transfer, lessons learned simplification of

project management processes as appropriate and compatible with the concept of

continuous improvement across the business

  • Collaborates with 3rd party suppliers to drive successful business outcomes
  • Provides effective leadership to the delivery team and suppliers; able to take appropriate action to address any issues
  • Participate in activities and function wide initiatives as a member of the EITS PPM

Delivery Management.

  • Ensure project resource are appropriately costed and accounted for in line with

budgetary limits

  • Manage the delivery of the project to time cost and schedule in accordance with

business success criteria and customer satisfaction.

  • Leads and manages the delivery of small -medium complexity projects or work

package within a larger project.

  • Typically manages a single supplier
  • Identifies and manages project level risks, issues, opportunities
  • Prepares and manages realistic project plans.
  • Track project changes
  • Manage RAID Logs
  • Project reporting as required by the project assurance framework, PPM, customers

and stakeholders

  • Monitor costs and resources against agreed budgets, take appropriate action for

any overspends

  • Identify and record lessons learned.
  • Ensure Business benefits are tracked and delivered. Senior PM
  • Typically leads and manages the delivery of large complexity projects or a work

package within a larger complex programmes. Internal and external High Business

Impact

  • Manages and participates in all phases of project delivery.
  • Works with multiple vendors to define project plans which will achieve the project

goals and consequent business outcomes with focus on business requirements and

business change elements

  • Provides effective leadership to the delivery team and suppliers, can take

appropriate action to address

  • Identifies and effectively manages business drivers and project objectives to be

delivered by the overall scope of work; this may involve developing the business

case with key stakeholders.

  • Compiles project time, cost estimate and business case, whilst maintaining a highlevel of business awareness and sensitivity to commercial priorities.
  • Manages business change analysis and support the customer to implement the

associated change activities.

  • Provide timely and concise decision making information to customers and

stakeholders through formal and informal communication and reporting channels.

Typical Knowledge, Skills and Qualification Requirements

The typical knowledge, skills and qualification required for this role include:

  • Proficient understanding of project lifecycle management
  • Experience of working within an environment with mature and established governance practices andprocesses
  • Proven experience of successfully delivering business outcomes as part of project delivery
  • Strong knowledge of Project Finance Funding & Business Case Management
  • Strong Project Management experience within the IT Services domain
  • Proven experience of leading enterprise-wide projects / programmes, incorporating successful business change delivery, to meet strategic business objectives
  • Strong experience of managing complex supply chains to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; able to produce and deliver progress updates, proposals and reporting to audiences at all levels
  • Able to elicit cooperation, facilitate business decisions with peers and customers, influence, engage and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business groups and at all levels
  • Has the ability to apply LCM independently.
  • Educated to degree level preferably in related discipline
  • Familiarity with computer-based Project Management tools including MS Projects
  • Some formal Project Management training, preferably PRINCE2 and/or PMDY.
  • Preference for ITIL training.
  • MSP ( Programme Management qualifications

  • Agile ProjectManagement
