This business design and manufacture of the most state-of-the-art products in the business and deliver into sites across the globe. Their bespoke electrical and mechanical development projects are pushing the boundaries of innovation and automation.

The Products will be designed with 'Design For' techniques and appropriate manufacturing methods. This involves designing for medium level production volumes in metals and plastics using a variety of manufacturing techniques. They're seeking a detail orientated and resourceful Mechanical Design Engineer to assist them in their mission.

What your role will look like...

• You will confidently communicate solutions and designs to varying levels of seniority from graduate to director, both technical and non technical audience
• You will be our go to contact for designs in this area
• Outlining Technical concept de-risk activities and provide inputs to the test/project plans
• Mentoring and some line management duties
• Comfortably making decisions based on cost, quality, schedule and risk
• Estimating plans and contribution to project planning
• Contributing to the peer/design review board and change management board

What we are looking for...

• Demonstrable experience of designing with/for steel and aluminium joints, finishing, forming and fabrication techniques relevant to large high volume structures
• The ability to assess, challenge and identify technical gaps in design drawings and design concepts
• Confidence in creating, understanding and implementing technical drawings, tolerancing, GD&T to BS8888
• Proven experience of modern CAD packages
• The ability to verify own designs using hand calculations, statistical analysis, tolerance analysis, simple FEA
• Experience with material standards for hot/cold rolled steel, aluminium and plastics
• Understand the impact of safety and compliance legislation and its constraints on design
• A degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification with experience

Bonus points if you also have...

• Experience in modelling/draughting using the Solidworks CAD environment
• Experience in data management using Solidworks PDM
• Used to working in a fast paced, changing, professional environment;
• Familiar with designing for manufacture in high volumes
• Experienced in generating realistic schedules and tracking progress against them;
• Comfortable presenting ideas, convincing others and making presentations to a group audience.
