Scientific Analyst role working in Development team with an exceptional track record in developing complex algorithms for sonar simulations.


A great opportunity has arisen for a Scientific Analyst to work for a leading Electronics design company in the Portland area. This Data Analyst role will be working to support and assist in the undertaking of studies of algorithms for Sonar performance, signal processing and Sonar simulators through the application of recognised scientific methodology. This role is ideally suited to a graduate who has studied Math or Physics or someone with a couple of years work experience in the field.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this role

- Able to run simulations and test programmes through the use of Matlab and other modelling languages.
- Under supervision you can use existing models and data to conduct performance assessments.
- You are able to apply simple processing to passive sonar data and active CW and FM sonar data in order to help trials data assessment.
- Assist with the production of professional level documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- To estimate time required to complete given tasks choosing suitable metrics to compare performance.
- Able to provide presentation of results in a workable format for all stakeholders to review.
- To work as part of the Analysis Team taking a proactive, methodical and attentive approach to problem solving and identifying potential issues or areas of concern.

Desirable
- Experience of Matlab, Mathcad or similar modelling language
- Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A good honours degree in an appropriate numerate discipline such as, Physics. Math, Electronics, Engineering or Digital Signal Processing.
