Job Description:

The main purpose of the Sub contract Manager will be to manage the relationship and performance of on-site subcontractors.

The ideal candidate will come from a marine/oil and gas background, preferably from a shipyard background , with proven experience in onsite sub-contractors.

Main Responsibilities:


Planning and Strategy
Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of the onsite subcontract Strategy for the business and each vessel.
Development and implementation of appropriate and effective processes and procedures.
Ownership of the sub contract activities in the programme plan
Responsible for continually reviewing the sub contract strategies, updating and revising as necessary, to ensure the process meets the client's requirements.
Responsible for the onsite sub contract budget
Actively promotes Company Vision and Values.

Design Development and Documentation
Ensure that the sub contractor design is aligned to the overall FM(PG) design.
Manage the design approval process and ensure appropriate design reviews are held.
Ensure design issues are resolved
Manage design dependencies between sub contractors

Onsite Programme Execution
Day to day management of subcontractors onsite through the plan of the day meetings, ensure work is co-ordinated with the yard.
Support the planning team to align subcontractor programmes with the overall integrated programme.
Work closely with the ship manager and production team to manage the sub contractor work scope.

Commissioning and Acceptance
Agree the commissioning and acceptance plans for each sub contractor
Work with the commissioning manager to integrate these within the overall test and commissioning plan.
Sign off sub contractor acceptance.
Ensure sub contractors effectively support the overall commissioning plan, including sea trials.

Commercial Management
Agreement of any variations in conjunction with the Procurement team

Departmental Policies, Processes & Procedures
Responsible for the development of new sub contractor policies and procedures.

Managing the implementation of all sub contractor policies and procedures.
An effective contributor to the overall program management policies and processes.

Development of Self and Others
Working as an effective member of the programme management team

Required Knowledge and Experience:


10 years' experience of managing major subcontractors and general project management
Experience in a shipbuild environment would be beneficial
Computer literate
Be able to absorb and assess information quickly
Effective communication and networking skills with social confidence, good team worker
Logical reasoning with can do attitude

Qualifications:

Chartered status in a relevant professional body, i.e. Association of Project Managers

Salary:

£50-£55,000 Dependant on experience
