Job Description:

Our client is looking for an experienced Market officer to work on a 36 hour per week contract role to start on the 07-08-17 until the 06-10-17 with a likely extension.

Hours are: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Purpose of Role:

Under the management of a Senior Markets Officer provide ‘first contact’ service to customers for all market & street trading activities including; Identification assessment, reporting and monitoring of street trading related failures, street cleanliness and enforcement

 

 

Allocated tasks may include the following.

 

 

  1. Assist with regulating markets activity, including allocation of pitches, management of traders, providing up to date information including statistical analysis of activity on a daily basis.

 

  1. Carry out investigations and prosecute suspects/offenders of enviro crime, illegal street trading and issue Fixed Penalty Notices. Ensure effective enforcement through the relevant acts and related legislation.

 

  1. Maintain accurate and consistent records of inspections, orders and other reports relating to the management of the markets and street trading business unit.

 

  1. Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work provisions in respect of working on site and within the workplace.

 

  1. Write reports, standard and non-standard correspondence as necessary.

 

  1. Respond to enquiries within given timeframe.

 

  1. Provide information and appropriate financial advice to budget holders and senior officers.

 

 

Candidate Profile

 

  1. Educational achievements to the level of 5 GCSEs or equivalent.

 

  1. Knowledge of regulatory framework governing services provided by markets & street trading.

 

  1. Experience of combating illegal street trading and other enforcement matters in relation to the operation of the service.

 

  1. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

 

  1. Able to analyse basic financial data and reports.

 

  1. Able to meet deadlines.

 

  1. Good communication and written skills.

 

  1. Knowledge of how equal opportunities apply in a front facing delivery service

 

  1. Current driving licence.

 

  1. Work outside normal hours as and when required.
