PHP Web Developer: PHP - MYSQL - API - Ecomms

Working for a large UK based independent retailer, we are looking for a back-end PHP Web Developer to join a talented development team based in North Yorkshire.

This is a full-time, permanent position with temporary remote working due to COVID-19.

PHP Developer – Job Description:

As a PHP Developer, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing the company’s ecommerce website, databases, and in-house systems. You will be reporting the Head of Development and help to develop new functions for a variety of company websites, apps, and tools. Your role will have a strong back end focus, however there will be some scope for you to pick up and extend your skillset on the front end also. The technology stack you will be using includes PHP, MySQL/MSSQL, JSON, Node.JS, Big Query, REST/SOAP API’s and you will be working in an agile environment.

Other responsibilities include:

• Enhance and expand the APIs that power the company websites and apps
• Implement best practice and web security
• Support other departments with troubleshooting and problem-solving back end systems
• Become a key part of the department’s and companies’ ongoing growth plans

PHP Developer – Person Specification:

You will ideally have 2+ years’ experience working in a commercial environment as a PHP Developer. You will need to have a background in PHP, MySQL web development, ideally having developed API's for eCommerce sites but not necessarily. The most important element is that you have a desire to learn and pick up new technologies, so things like Node.js, Kubernetes, Big Query and Agile methodologies.
