Job Description:

Our Client is looking for an experienced Lease Hold Collection Officer to work on a 35 hour per week contract role to start on the 14-08-17 until the 10-11-17 with a likely extension.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST HOLD A CURRENT STANDARD CRB/DBS.

Hours are: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Purpose of The Job:

To manage a portfolio and proactively collect service and major works charges from current and former leaseholders, providing monthly performance reports to the Team Leader.

 

To maximise all revenue streams to improve collection rates and minimise the levels of debt.  To monitor the arrears cases and  ensure that prompt action is taken, including liaison with mortgage lenders and instigating legal proceedings.

 

To work closely and flexibly with all staff in leasehold services and the neighbourhoods to provide an excellent level of customer service and deliver improvements for leaseholders.

 

To actively promote to leaseholders the range of payment methods available and signpost customers to the relevant financial support available.

 

To provide expert advice and information to leaseholders in respect of interventions for managing arrears and welfare benefit entitlements.

 

To identify initiatives to continuously improve the service, and sharing knowledge and providing feedback to Team leaders and leaseholders.

 

To participate in the delivery the team action plans and update these on a regular basis.  To take appropriate action to ensure that targets are met.  To suggest, develop and implement new practices that improve the service.

 

To attend leasehold surgeries, consultation meetings, home visits or any other meetings concerning charges and collection. These may be during office hours, evenings and Saturdays.

 

To take an active role as a Neighbourhood friend and provide monthly updates on work carried out as a virtual friend.

 

To take responsibility and a pro-active approach to own professional development.

 

To take responsibility for providing quality information to leaseholders and staff including responses on complaints.

 

To make effective use of Land Registry to ensure action is taken appropriately and accurately to recover debt.  Liaise with lenders to secure payment where the leaseholder does not comply with demands for payment.

 

To prepare and submit applications to the County Court, seeking and enforcing judgement. Attend Court to represent The client's Homes as necessary.

 

Carry out other reasonable ad hoc duties to support the Directorate which are commensurate with the expectation of the post as directed by the line manager or the Head of Service.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of working in a challenging collections environment

 

  • Experience of working in a performance driven environment.

 

  • Experience of making applications and issuing proceedings in the County Court.

 

  • Experience of representing an organisation during legal proceedings.

 

  • Experience of working in customer-focused organisations.

 

  • Experience of working with residents to improve services.

 

  • Experience of using IT including Microsoft Office® products, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook

 

Education

 A good standard of education, at least 5 GCSE’s (grade A – C)

 

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the terms of leases and the rights and obligations of freeholders and leaseholders
  • An understanding of the welfare and benefits system

 

  • Knowledge of advising on debt and/or organisations that can assist individuals in debt.
