Job Description:

Full-time (37 hours per week) Head of Human Resources  contract to start ASAP and continue for 6 months with a possible extension.

Pay rate is negotiable!

Support the HR Director in the creation and successful delivery of the Human Resources strategy. Set a clear direction for HR Operations, enabling delivery of the HR plan to agreed targets. Evaluate the outcomes of the HR Strategy and ensure it remains appropriate and in line with KPIs. Understand the unique roles and responsibilities, strategic goals, and business plans of each directorate in order to provide a proactive HR service to all organisational areas. Lead major projects and changes affecting the employment of staff. Continually review the service provided ensuring it meets the needs of users. Develop and maintain effective internal relationships with key stakeholders. Ensure innovative recruitment and succession planning is in place. Ensure trends and experience are used to inform future resource allocation and that resources are balanced across all areas. Be alert to national and local influences and forecast the impact of internal and external change and plan the workplace’s response in a coordinated and timely way. Ensure the workplace has modern, robust, efficient and effective employment policies, procedures and practices. Develop and maintain remuneration policies and systems which meet the requirements of the workplace, including pension matters. Ensure stable and constructive employment relations and effective negotiations, consultations and communications with staff groups and trade unions, including coordinating the Employees’ Joint Consultative Committee and acting as escalation point for any complex or contentious issues including authorising dismissals and redundancies. Ensure implementation of effective HR communication and develop opportunities for involvement and participation within the service area. Manage, develop and motivate the team of HR professionals. Manage service area expenditure within agreed budget. Manage relevant outsourced contracts. Continually review and improve HR support services through the application of digital technologies and other innovative ways of working. Deputise for the Director of HR as required. Carry out any additional duties as reasonably requested by line management.

The reqirements:

MCIPD/FCIPD or equivalent with evidence of a proactive commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Leadership skills and the proven ability to empower, motivate and to create a positive, inclusive team ethos.

Financial and budgetary management with the ability to understand, manage and interpret budgetary and other financial information.

Confident IT user including MS Office and HR systems. Experience of improving services through the application of digital technologies and other innovative ways of working.
