Job Description:

Full-time (37 hours per week) Engineer  contract to start on 07-09-20 until 31-03-21 with a possible extension.

Assess the planning applications, flood risk assessments and drainage strategies in accordance with national and local Oxfordshire standards and policies. Provide technical support to the transport development team on planning applications including interpreting drainage strategies and flood risk assessments. Undertake Technical Approvals on drainage design and drainage model submissions, ensuring designs are compliant with national legislation, National Standards and Workplace Policy. Provide advice on drainage submissions associated with Sections 38 and 278 Highways Act 1980 and Section 106 agreements under the Town and Country Planning Act. Provide support and guidance to the workplace and external stakeholders on Sustainable urban Drainage Systems (SuDS). Provide technical assistance and support on drainage issues to other workplace departments including operational staff as required. Assist in the discharge of the workplace’s duties under relevant legislation including the Flood and Water Management Act. Co-ordinate planning consultation and communication of flood risk issues with authorities including districts, the Environment Agency and Thames Water etc. Assist in the development of major drainage improvement schemes as required. Contribute to the development of policies, strategies and plans for drainage and flood risk management as required.
