What is the Job?

- Contract to start on 24-08-20 until 23-02-21 with a possible extension.

- Support the delivery of statutory duties to provide front-line housing advice and homelessness services to those seeking a home in South Gloucestershire.

- Carry out the following specific duties: Having regard to all relevant statutory provisions and frameworks, the post holder will conduct the assessment of all customers approaching for housing advice, in housing need and identifying those coming under homelessness provisions. This includes verifying legal rights of occupation, and collating all information available from any representatives and/or agencies to help inform a housing plan, including referrals for specialist help and support, and priority for supported housing places.

- Act as the key point of contact during the assessment phase and in many cases, the post holder will resolve the persons’ situation at this stage, including holding a caseload, concluding homelessness applications, making other appropriate applications for housing, to compile additional information as it relates to housing need or other risk information, or to gain access to relevant specialist advice or support services in order to resolve their problem/s and prevent homelessness.

What are the requirements?

- Knowledge of housing options and advice, an understanding of housing remedies including homelessness and an understanding of the needs of vulnerable people and minority groups.

- Knowledge and understanding of housing legislation, landlord and tenant law and security of tenure as it relates to this post.

- Strong IT skills.
