Job Description:

Head of Supply Chain

Location: Manchester or Glasgow with some UK and International Travel

Role Overview:

The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for the identification and engagement with prospective new sub-contractors across all regions in the UK, providing full end-to-end management from identification to mobilisation, including commercial negotiation, resource capacity and conformance to client specifications and requirements. To assess supplier accreditations including SHEQ certification

This is an individual contributor role and requires a strong ability to work across all areas of the supply chain, with stakeholder communication a priority.  A strong focus on project output/outcome is a key component of this role, with a good cross functional approach, along with the capability to lead and manage teams who are not direct reports. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for on-boarding new suppliers, including SHEQ documentation, assessment and approval and issuing of contracts
  • Manage multiple projects as they mobilise across across the UK and onboarding new contractors
  • Responsible for agreeing contractor terms with Senior Management
  • Maintain regular communications with contractors to ensure they are working to the appropriate standards
  • Regularly evaluate the suitability of the contractors to do the job
  • Manage the pipeline of contractors including sourcing, day to day management and future planning of requirements.
  • Build strong relationship with all existing Suppliers and future suppliers
  • Develop and implement a strong project methodology along with process improvement that is effective in a contracting organization
  • For any project work, plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Identify and manage resources required for all supply projects and manage cross functional teams to meet project timelines
  • Develop clear and concise project plans and effectively communicate project goals/progress to all key stakeholders
  • Developing cost saving initiatives through materials cost reductions and supply risks.

 

Key Requirements.

  • Good knowledge of Telecoms or Civil Engineering 
  • Experience of procuring and managing Sub Contracts including Supply Chain Management
  • Project Management Qualification (PMI preferred) an advantage
  • Project Management experience in Supply Chain preferably in a Telecommunications Environment.
  • Experience in sourcing and identifying suitable suppliers 
  • Experience in delivering successful strategies to manage Suppliers.
  • Proven financial acumen required
  • A strong negotiator with exceptional problem solving capabilities
  • A history of successfully engaging internal and external stakeholders (at senior levels and across functions) on transformational new ideas; adept at moving senior management to action.
