Sales Manager - Engineering / Manufacturing - Burnley / Field Based - £40,000 - £50,000 Annual Salary + Car - Field Based / Home Based (Materials Handling / Aviation / Aerospace / Nuclear)


Company and Role


My market leading manufacturing client is looking to hire an experienced Sales Manager to cover the UK. As an ambassador for a very niche and bespoke industry, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to continue the growth of a small, but highly successful and growing company whose name is extremely well known in their industry.


With the flexibility to target the whole of the UK, this company already has an impressive client base, and provides the opportunity to target and develop a vast range of industries including aerospace & aviation, nuclear, military, automotive and heavy engineering, to name but a few. Values of orders can range from anything between £2k - £5million, yet this can vary due to the bespoke orders tailored to suit the client’s requirements. This would be the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently without managing a team, but thrives in a busy and fast paced sales environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • This is purely an external sales role, focusing initially on developing new business with future opportunities to manage new business accounts
  • Identifying and closing opportunities for new business growth in core and non-core emerging markets
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients, through managing and interpreting their requirements
  • Liaise with senior management and design and procurement teams on a regular basis
  • Arrange and attend meetings UK wide (with potential overseas work) to pitch for and secure new business
  • Calculate client quotations
  • Manage own diary and workload accordingly
  • Meet regular structured targets which will be continually developed with career progression
  • Due to this niche and bespoke nature of this industry, the candidate will need to come to the office for the first month to properly understand the industry and client base


Knowledge, Skills and Experience



  • Longevity in previous roles (the client will not consider candidates who move around every 2 years, etc)



  • Ideally be educated to HNC/HND level in Engineering or Math related subjects 
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering.
  • 5+ years’ Sales experience in Aviation /or Engineering or Manufacturing industries
  • Need to be very personable, confident, ambitious, smart and driven
  • Be hungry for sales and keen to sell – someone who won’t take no for an answer
  • Have strong presentation skills
  • Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Have a full clean driving license
