Job Description:

White Label are now recruiting for an exciting opportunity with one of our market leading Precision Engineering customers. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join a highly prestigious and well known company, who have an excellent reputation within advanced engineering. 

The highly successful and market leading company are looking for a passionate, experienced, Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Engineering & Design Team and be responsible for adapting and advancing machines to meet the customers’ manufacturing requirements. 

In this central technical role, you will be contributing towards the growth and improvement of their product, you will bring experience in quality, efficiency and design solutions. Please see below for responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be an influencing member of the team, creating and executing machine tool designs and calculations.
  • Interpret customer requirements, translate these to 2D and 3D drawings working with 3D CAD modelling software (mainly Solidedge) addressing any bespoke requirements.
  • Deliver timely and solution orientated designs to the manufacturing team, providing support and advice where necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding design improvements, always looking for ways to innovate and enhance on previous designs.
  • Support the department and the company in meeting its goals on product development and market diversification.

Lead Design Engineer:

Degree qualified, with a minimum of four years relevant industrial experience within a precision engineering environment incorporating knowledge of some of the following:

  • Machine tools and metal-cutting products, grinding machines and production systems.
  • Up-to-date machines tools slide ways designs, servo/motion controls, drives and bearings.
  • Mechanical accuracy and inspection methods, such as laser interferometry and axis coordination.
  • Modern manufacturing systems, tooling, robotics auto-loading and automated inspection methods.
  • Safety, quality and compliance standards, such as CE marking, ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and ISO 18000.
  • Manufacturing systems such as ERP and MRP2.
  • CAD and CAM based systems such as Solid Edge, Solid Works and Autocad, alongside PLM systems.
  • Project management software tools such as MS project.
  • Excellent personal organisation skills, time management and attention to detail. 


This is a growing role with progression opportunity to move into a managerial role should this be an avenue you wish to go down.

The company is offering a salary of £40-45k depending on your experience, and along with this a very competitive benefits package including contributory Pension Scheme, life assurance, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (this also increases in service).
