Reporting to:  Service Manager/Logistics Team Leader

Job Type:  Permanent & Full-Time

Location:  Reading, Berkshire

Salary:  £18,000 per annum

Our client has been established for over 25 years and has grown steadily to become one of the UK's leading providers of managed print services and document solutions.  Our client provides a dedicated service to over 2,500 organisations providing Managed Print Services, IT Services, Unified Communications, Document Workflow and Business Continuity.

The company is ambitious that wishes to grow from £25m to £50m turnover in the next 5 years and expect to be completing 250 installations per month by 2017.

50% of our installations will be to new customers and this will be their first real experience of us as a company. First impressions count and will help define whether we win more business from that client over time.

The reverse logistics, scrap, salvage, refurb, disposal element of our business can add significantly to our profitability.

As such, the Workshop and Logistics team will play a central part in determining whether we reach both our growth and our profit targets.


Job description:

The purpose of this role is to provide client with a first class service for technical installation of photocopiers, printers and MFD's.  

Main duties and responsibilities:

To carry out machines deliveries and installations, machine relocations and machines collections in a timely and professional manner including:

  • careful and safe loading of the company vans
  • responsible for driving the company vans
  • physically locations the new machines on the customer premises
  • safe and considered use of appropriate lifting equipment to complete the installation/removal of incumbent devices as required 
  • salvage of all possible toners and consumables from customer sites
  • green button testing of new machines and basic introductory training of machines
  • removal of all packaging and waste ensuring the customer premises are left clean and tidy
  • treating customer with courtesy and politeness at all times and appear positive and helpful in all situations

To assist in the workshop with assembling, moving, picking and cleaning photocopiers, printers and MFDs.

To ensure all paperwork is properly completed, signed and returned as appropriate.

To assist the Workshop and Logistics Manager with all other tasks.


Key working relationships and contacts:

Sales Order Processing – so that installation work is well planned both internally and with the customer and the reverse logistics elements are clearly understood

IT – so that network connectivity, software installs and user training appears to the customer to be “joined up” with the physical install process

Warehouse – so that the machines are available and ready for preparation and despatch as required


Required skills and experience:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering experience preferred
  • City & Guilds or NVQ training in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Good IT skills - any knowledge of networks or software would be beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Flexible approach to work
  • Full Driving Licence is essential
