Responsibility:

Health, Safety and Environment

• Complies with the Mine Health and Safety Act as well as company policies and procedures

Production

• Assists with the drawing up of business strategy and budget formulation
• Ensure optimal production of mining and plant
• Achieve productivity targets

Cost

• Ensure correct allocation of resources e.g. labour and equipment
• Allocate/withhold funds as dictated by operational requirements

Labour management

• Define labour structure and ensure vacancies are filled within reasonable time
• Review subordinates' performances quarterly according to their respective KPIs
• Approval and monitor of overtime in maintenance department based on Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) requirement
• Manage leave schedule.

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma or B. Degree in Mining
• Mine overseer certificate of competency
• Must have an opencast blasting ticket
• Between 5-10 years' experience in open cast mining environment of which at least 2 years was at Production Manager level.
• Must have proven experience with open pit heavy equipment fleet and open pit operations and mechanically inclined
• Thorough experience in drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and pit dewatering

Knowledge / Competencies /Abilities:

• Candidates must have a valid driver's license
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English
• PC Proficient
• Must be medically fit and pass a medical examination as required from the designated mines
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines as determined by the supervisor
• Must possess basic problem solving, basic self-management

Key skills:
