Scheduler - Intermediate

The Program Scheduler Intermediate is responsible for coordinating schedule development inputs from Program Managers to develop and use analytical scheduling tools to maintain Project schedule. The Program Scheduler reports directly to the Program Project Controls Lead. Major responsibilities for the Intermediate Scheduler are the following:

  • Assist in the development of an Integrated Project Controls Plan (IPCP) to serve as a basis for how the project controls functions will be planned, executed, monitored, controlled and closed
  • Develop and maintain a resource loaded schedule derived from staging/outage plans, project documents, specifications and the approved estimate, align the developed schedule with the standard template, WBS Structures, Project and activity level coding
  • Host planning sessions to build out a schedule using various project management tools, including scheduling boards, GANTT charts, excel tables
  • Conduct technical analyses on schedules ensuring a quality standard is being met by reviewing various scheduling elements such as open-ended activities, out-of-sequence activities, negative floats, negative lags among other best-practice checks on schedule
  • Coordinate between multiple departments and groups ensuring both schedule development and schedule updates are inclusive of the full scope required by project
  • Set project milestone dates based on approved Corporate Milestones or other regulatory approved documents. Work with Project teams to plan and maintain the efforts to meet clients established project milestones
  • Accurately report percent completion on corresponding cost account activities through use of steps or predetermined strategy to potentially present earned value metrics
  • Development, maintenance and distribution of project schedule outside of PC section. E.g. will work with HONI/Contractor's personnel to develop all schedule sections prior to Permit, Licensing, planning, and Execution
  • Monthly schedule submittal(s) to client, develop reports for schedule updates including an overall schedule, 3 week lookahead, variance reports, critical path reports and performance reports
  • Formal project baseline submittal, baseline management
  • Participate in the project bi-weekly/monthly meetings across Ontario as required by project team to provide updates regarding scheduling

  • Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
    • A minimum of 4 years of direct project controls experience. Additional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
    • Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
    • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6.

May be required to obtain certifications to allow for work in the field.
