Job Description:

This role will manage the key activities of the platform and equipment used by the SDA for the Astute build programme, including the planning, delivery and operation of in-service support, equipment modifications and resolution of design and maintenance issues during the manufacture stage.

In this role you will be required to provide advice on the delivery of strategic planning and support arrangements relating to the technical elements of equipment support and logistics services. This includes planning, delivery, obsolescence and cross Boat technical issues of in-build support, equipment, understanding of build procedures and resolution of in build obsolescence issues. To be successful you will need to know about the application and management of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles to Defence equipment at the Manufacture stage. You will be working and influencing many key stakeholders including build and in-service Project and Operations Mangers, Supply Chain, Engineering colleagues both inside and outside the SDA.

Responsibilities

To be successful you will need to know about the application and management of ILS principles to Defence equipment at the Manufacture stage. You will be working and influencing many key stakeholders including build and in-service Project and Operations Mangers, Supply Chain, Engineering colleagues both inside and outside the SDA.

Working with Project, Engineering and other key stakeholders in:

  • Supporting Build Boat Project Managers; * Responding to requests for current, relevant and accurate logistic data; * Providing the relevant documentation and analysis to be fed in to the Support Solution Strategy, Plans and Schedules; * Developing different options for support solutions; * Providing input to the supportability working groups with the Project Team, User and Contractor to address obsolescence and cross boat issues; * Providing support to Project Teams and In-service for all analysis and modelling activities including inventory and supply chain; * Responsibility for creating and maintaining an analysis/modelling capability to meet the needs of Project Teams pan-defence; * Design and Development (D&D) Management and member of the joint D&D team; * Monitoring, classifying and control of rework; * Ability to engage with stakeholders to identify subject specific milestones and tasks to achieve Logistic Support Date effectively; * Provision of ILS specialist advice with a focus on obsolescence; such as training, ranging and scaling; * Ability to interpret management information, provide valuable business insight and work alongside senior colleagues to help shape the TTLS strategy and policy within their role area; * Liaising and negotiating with stakeholders to ensure all supportability issues meet the requirements; * Attending appropriate working groups to ensure alignment across teams e.g. Project Team, user and contractors to address obsolescence, training, supply, support and other ILS elements;

The position is highly suited to applicants with former military service experience or from a similar industry background.

What you will be assessed against

  • Experience of working within at least one of the following fields: Engineering, ILS, Supportability Engineering or Technical Operations Management; * Significant management experience of developing and guiding teams in delivery product support, equipment support solutions and/or optimisation of product performance; * Stakeholder management expertise; * Working knowledge of relevant TTLS systems and tools which support the delivery of advice to the rest of the business on the subject matter area; * Attainment of both the internal MOD TTLS Practitioner Skills Certificate and the TTLS Expert Skills Certificate is mandatory within 12 months of taking up role;
