Export Manager

£45k per annum

6 month fixed term contract

My client is looking to recruit an Export Manager to lead on the establishment and development of an Export Plan for the region with LEP/LA, DIT, business, sector and partner organisations across the region. Map out, engage and drive collaborations with key trade and business support parties within the local ecosystem to ensure maximisation of existing export services and development of programmes and activity to increase international trade across the region to achieve the Trade priorities set out in the local International Strategy/the Local Industrial Strategy and to achieve DIT and the organisation’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the external partners such as, DIT, Local Authorities Chambers of Commerce, Universities and other business support organisations and key stakeholders to develop a regional Export Plan to increase international trade with a strong focus on supporting earlier stage businesses and SMEs to plan for international growth. The Plan will be developed in line with the Region’s Internationalisation Strategy/Local Industrial Strategy and will include priority markets, key sectors and trade implications of EU exit, as appropriate
  • Establish an International Trade Working Group with key stakeholders to drive engagement, activity, programmes and implementation of the Export Plan. The Group will input into Northern Powerhouse Trade & Investment activity whilst delivering on local priorities. Contribute to an active network of Exporters, building on existing cadres of Export Champions, Export Clubs and Programmes, utilising their expertise to leverage increased exports.
  • Map out, engage and establish export collaborations with key parties within the trade and business support ecosystem across the region, including trade and sector representatives, private partners, exporting networks and agencies and other key Business partners.
  • Build on existing systems and intelligence to drive further export activity, within the Business Growth Hub, DIT and other stakeholders with a focus on sector, product, market and scalability. Report on impact and KPIs based on these metrics and the implementation of the Export Plan.
  • Work closely with the appropriate Managers to continue expansion of internationalisation of services and support within the region and wider partners. This could include development of appropriate delivery tools, assets for client facing staff and sector led activity ensuring that the colleagues are trained and supported to increase international trade outputs.
  • Explore by sector how to get greater interest and active engagement in export activity in conjunction with DIT ITA Sector Leads.
  • Support the delivery of a Regional Growth Service; and identify and engage significant businesses that DIT isn’t already active with, including making referrals to DIT ITAs as appropriate.
  • Fulfil all the contractual obligations relating to the funding for this post, including delivery of outputs and associated paperwork is accurately completed
  • Foresee and maintain a high level of awareness of national policy and programme developments related to international trade, be able to influence and contribute to these and relate such developments back to service delivery across a range of local delivery partners.
  • Other duties that may reasonably be required for the fulfilment of this Programme and the work of the organisation.
