Job Description:

A leading service provider is requiring a Data Centre Analyst to join their client in Milton Keynes on a shift work basis, for an initial 6 month contract.

Candidates should ideally have some previous experience of a Datacentre role, IT Operations environment, a Service Desk environment, or have IT qualifications and be looking for a start within a managed service environment.

Analyst duties include monitoring batches, systems and environments, general tape operations and other daily tasks including detection, logging and escalation of issues. It may also involve additional tasks related to datacentre infrastructure. Managing CMDB and some physical work - i.e. cabling, and installations.

Experience:

  • Monitoring systems/environments/batch schedules
  • To initiate prompt and effective first level diagnosis and take corrective action.
  • Executing the control and operation of all systems efficiently, ensuring that procedures and schedules are followed with all work is completed
  • within agreed deadlines.
  • Detection of software/hardware issues
  • Logging incidents, changes and issues in Service Desk systems - Various sources (alerts/phone/email)
  • Escalation of issues to support staff and engineering teams
  • Managing a workload that includes regular tasks and ad-hoc requests from customers and colleagues
  • Providing remote hands support for offshore customers and colleagues
  • Maintaining and updating documentation relevant to the role
  • Technical support experience in various software related issues
  • Datacentre installations - Network or Compute
  • CMDB management

Preferred Skills:

Candidates will not be required to have any/in-depth knowledge of the below systems, this is the environment and training will be provided.

Working on a shift of two/three analysts we expect applicants to be self-motivated and able to perform all tasks unassisted within a period of six months.

We are a customer facing department and expect a high level of written and oral communication when responding to work requests.

Our shift pattern covers 24x7 - 365 days a year, more details are available during the interview process.

Successful applicants will be subject to a Security Clearance process (CTC/SC)

Role paying up to £14 per hour LTD/Umbrella for a standard 37.5 hour working week. Role to start remotely.
