Job Responsibilities

An experienced FPGA Design Engineer who can operate as a key player in the design, development and test of bespoke digital design solutions targeting programmable logic devices for Information Assurance and Satellite based projects.

The role is responsible for:

  • Analysing requirements

  • Creation and documentation of high/low level architecture designs

  • Implementation and verification of programmable logic solutions

  • Integration and test of programmable logic solutions in prototype hardware

Key Skills / Knowledge and Attributes

  • Full development life-cycle experience.

  • Ability to estimate development effort required to produce programmable logic solutions.

  • Sound understanding of programmable logic engineering and quality processes.

  • Strong VHDL experience in programmable logic design and simulation using Modelsim or Questasim.

  • Good working knowledge of using Libero for design synthesis.

  • Experience in developing HDL solutions for Microchip PolarFire, Igloo or SmartFusion2 devices (PolarFire would be an advantage).

  • Experience in performing integration test activities of programmable logic solutions in hardware platforms.

  • Experience in using configuration management systems (SVN would be an advantage).

  • Excellent communication skills - both written, verbal and with the ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Effective collaboration and positive behaviour.

  • Effective and flexible team player whilst having the ability to work independently.

  • Highly organised, self-motivated, able to multi-task and work to deadlines.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.

Desirable Skills / Knowledge and Attributes

  • Experience in using RISC-V embedded processor.
  • Design for security.
  • Experience in developing encryption products.
  • Experience in using Verilog/System Verilog.

  • Requirements analysis, capture and management in DOORs.

  • Experience working with PCIe NVME.

Qualifications
  • Degree 2:1 (Hons) or higher in Electronic Engineering or similar discipline.

  • Must hold a UK passport and already hold security clearance to work on UK Government projects
