HMRC is building a modern, digital tax administration and runs the biggest digital operation in Government, providing digital services for 45 million individuals and 4.9 million business customers. Our roles sit within HMRC’s Chief Digital & Information Group (CDIO) we’re increasingly delivering in-house through our growing network of digital delivery centres – hi-tech, state-of-the-art facilities across the UK.

We are undergoing a major transformation programme, which includes a major investment in digitisation. This means customers can do more for themselves online, in real time, on computers, tablets and smartphones therefore we are building a team of outstanding people who will create and run these new and improved technology services.
Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn. You’ll be supported by your line manager, skills coach and the project management community, as well as fellow apprentices on the programme, so you will have plenty sources of encouragement to help you succeed.

This is a permanent position; however you will be given 20% off the job training to allow you to complete your apprenticeship within your working hours. Typically, the apprenticeship will run for 18 – 21 months.

You will enable the smooth running of the project by supporting the Project Manager through the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf. The role will enable the development of Agile Project Management and will help you develop the skills required to assist and lead others in using Agile Methodology.

Responsibilities In this role you will:

• Planning and scheduling – Assist with and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.
• Monitoring and reporting – Assist in maintaining project controls and in producing project reports.
• Admin – Responsible for project file management using robust version control. Coordinate key project meetings and provide secretariat support.
• Resources – Management of staff as appropriate, including their development.
• Collaboration – Assist with maintaining the engagement for internal and external colleagues and teams. Act as the focal point for project responses to external requests for information.
• Financial control – Assist with the monitor of project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets. Maintain an accurate asset register for the project.
• Risks and Issues – Assist with and maintain risk and issue logs, raising as appropriate.

Qualifications
You will also need to meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grades 4-9, A* to C or equivalent
• Valid passport/birth certificate and NI number
• Must have lived in the UK and/or EEA for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date
• Not undertaking another apprenticeship or government funded qualification at the same time
