Job Title – Regional Service Manager (Midlands)

Location – Midlands

Salary - £40,000 to £50,000 + Company Car+ Bonus + Pension + BUPA Healthcare

The Company

Our client specialise in the design and manufacture of fully automated materials handling solutions for clients like DHL and Royal Mail. Supplying worldwide the company are rapidly expanding, not only due to the high demand for their products but also thanks to diversifications allowing them to break into new markets.

Through this diversification and new product lines the companies demand for skilled engineers has risen sharply to help them fulfil their service contracts. Their products which include fully automated PLC and SCADA controlled sortation, docking and loading systems are cutting edge and can be custom made to meet the customer’s needs, regardless of scale. Thanks to this continued expansion the business now require an additional Regional Service Manager to cover the Midlands.

The Role

The Regional Service Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of ten Multiskilled Field Service Engineers covering the whole of the Midlands and into East Anglia. The service team are responsible for carrying out both routine service calls and emergency breakdown repairs on customer’s sites, for which the Regional Service Manager will be responsible for organising.

Currently all the Field Service Engineers are on a three week rolling rota whereby they spend two weeks on routine service and a week on 24/7 emergency call out. The Regional Service Manager will allocate service calls to their Field Service Engineers two weeks in advance of the call, with breakdowns be allocated on a job by job basis as they are reported by the customer.

The Regional Service Manager will also be required to help the Sales Department with any project tenders or on-going service issues a client may be having. This would, from time to time, require visits to customer’s sites so as to properly investigate any issues they may be facing.

The setting and continual monitoring of department KPIs will also form part of this role, as would any future recruitment of Field Service Engineers into the Midlands Service Team.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following skills, abilities or qualifications:

  • Must have an engineering background.
  • Must have previous experience managing a Service or Maintenance Department.
  • Must have experience scheduling planned preventative maintenance.
  • Must have previous experience working within an automated distribution environment.
  • Must have excellent client facing skills.

Candidates should ideally be based within the East or West Midlands so as they are locally based for visiting client’s sites.
