A vacancy exists within Air Service Test Solutions Team for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the design and delivery of an IT System for the Mission Data Planning System, Sceptre. The ideal candidate will have experience of developing and configuring Microsoft Windows based client/server systems in a virtualised environment for a secure network. It would also be advantageous if the candidate has experience in supporting the UK customer and is familiar with how this customer operates and their security standards.

Job Description: Assist in the development of a Virtualised IT System Architecture:

  • Management and interpretation of customer requirements to aid with the production of the initial system design and specification.
  • Liaison with the team's specialist hardware and computing engineers to assist them in the correct production of sub-system specifications.
  • Integration of the sub-system components in accordance with the system design.
  • Production of system integration test procedures to fully test the system whilst showing compliance with the original design requirements.
  • Adherence to relevant Air and departmental design standards and processes.
  • Supporting internal and customer design reviews including formal Engineering Lifecycle Design Reviews.
  • Supporting system commissioning at customer premises.
  • Complete computing system configuration activities including documentation and release. Academic/Technical Knowledge:
  • Essential - Degree educated in a science/engineering discipline or HND/HNC with sound experience of the Engineering Lifecycle
  • Essential - Competent in the setting up and configuring of physical IT hardware and the creation of virtualised server environments for secure networks
  • Essential - Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Desirable - Knowledge of the IBM Telelogic DOORS Requirements Management Tool What we are looking for in you:

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:

The Individual

Mission Support and Training Services, Air Service Test Solutions Team are responsible for designing and delivering the IT Hardware Architecture for the Mission Data Planning System, Sceptre. A vacancy exists within the team for a Senior Systems Engineer to support delivery of the hardware system for the UK & KSA customers.

The Systems Engineer role will be to work on the development and delivery of the Client/Server Computing hardware system for the UK & KSA Sceptre contracts.

The ideal candidate will have experience of developing and configuring Microsoft Windows based client/server systems in a virtualised environment for a secure network. It would also be advantageous if the candidate has experience in supporting the UK and/or KSA customer and is familiar with how this customer operates and their security standards.

Based in Warton, some UK and overseas travel may be required

Essential -

  1. computing systems design.
  2. Good Technical report writing (MS Office tools).

Desirable -

  1. Knowledge of and conformance to the MoD JSP480 regulations would be an advantage.

The candidate must have Excellent Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Windows GPO, Active Directory and Hyperviser

They should also be good with Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Systems Engineering and IBM Rational DOORS

Personal Qualifications must include NVQ 4 and HNC/HND/Degree 4
