We are looking for a PLC Software & Automation Engineer to join our well established department. There is no fixed location, however you will be based at Sutton & East Surrey Water Framework Offices. We take the family run business culture strongly and the team have a good working relationship. We are looking for a team player who is willing to adapt and is looking for a long term career within design to balance the foundation of this existing design team.

THE ROLE

As a software engineer you will work closely within a dynamic design team to help effectively deliver innovative projects that add real value to our customers.

In this role the candidate will:
Be proficient with AB Studio 5000 Logix Designer, AB RSLogix 5000/500, AB FactoryTalk, AB RSLinx, AB RSView SE/ME/32, GE Digital iFix SCADA.
Develop process documentation such as Control Philosophies & URS.
Produce PLC, HMI and SCADA software compliant to customer and project specifications,
Produce PLC, HMI and SCADA software documentation including PLC I/O schedules, Network Architecture Diagrams and FDS.
Attend site to assist with site commissioning activities associated with the relevant automation equipment.
Use a range of different architectures, tools and frameworks to experiment, explore and learn new technologies.
Assist Sub-contractors and be a technical point of contact
Review sub-contractors design submissions Attend Factory Acceptance Tests & Site Acceptance Tests as required Attend meetings both in person and virtually.

THE CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will:
Have in depth understanding of electrical control systems, automation, and process control.
Ideally have water industry experience. Have experience of working to customer specifications, British and European standards.
Experience of working with various communication networks, such as Profibus, DeviceNet, Modbus RTU/TCP, EtherNet/IP.
Independently communicate and collaborate with team members and customers to offering customer-centric approach and deliver real value to solve complex problems.
Be proactive about continuous improvement and innovation and will not be afraid to challenge ideas and standards. Have a keen interest in technology, actively looking for ways to increase their technical knowledge and understanding. Will have the confidence, experience and ability to independently co-ordinate and lead design meetings with other team members and customers.
Will have strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently, prioritising and planning their own workload effectively.
